All the LUCK in the world...

...couldn't help this mess!
Hello again Blogville, Sarge's Mom here.   Thanks so much for the well wishes, luck and support to Sarge's dogtor post yesterday.   Well, it was so very, very bad!   OMD it was very bad!

When Stan got to the vet at 9am, the happy pills had not had any effect at all, so they wrestled Sarge down in a huge ordeal and the vet gave him a happy shot.   Stan took him outside to walk around until it started to work.

Thirty minutes later and the happy shot had not had any effect at all, so they wrestled Sarge down again in a huge ordeal and the vet gave him a stronger happy shot.   This one was some version of heroin and the vet said it would make him totally loopy in about 15 minutes tops.   Thirty minutes later and the second happy shot had not had any effect at all.

The vet said he's never treated a dog that didn't respond to at least one of these three drugs and Sarge didn't respond at all.   The vet said the only choice was to wrestle him down again in a third huge ordeal and just gave him the full anesthesia.  This finally knocked him clear out, totally unconscious  in about 10 minutes.   Unbelievable!    He scratched, clawed, bit, spit, foamed at the mouth, pooped, peed, everything.   The vet couldn't believe it.   He said from now on we'll skip all of the happy meds and we'll just take him right to the exam room, one wrestling match for the full anesthesia.   Done.  OUT COLD.   OMD      Well, Stan has a sense of humor about it and he said the vet was wonderful about it.   How embarrassing.   The vet said this is all in Sarge's head and he is so strong.  He is also abnormally resistant to any kind of happy drugs.   WOW, aren't we lucky?!?   BOL     Long story short, they were back home at 3pm and Sarge zonked out on his cot.   He will probably be totally useless until about mid-day today.  BOL   The vet said he is perfectly healthy.   Blood work is right-down-the-middle normal.   Got his teeth done, nails done, blood work, heartworm test and pills, eye ointment for his pannus, lepto and bordatella.   He's good for another 100,000 miles.  BOL    Thank dawg we all have a sense of humor.    The vet, my hubby and a rather large vet tech- and the three of them could not control our 44 pound holy terror wild man insane nut job Sarge.

So, Blogville, are you impressed with your Police Commissioner?!?   He wasn't going down without a fight.   No Sir-E.   I think inside his crazy canine head he was thinking "THEY'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!!!   NOOOOOOO    HELL NO, I WON'T GO!!!!"       What a nut.

Hugs,
Lori

OMD Lori that has to be a first. We have never heard of dog who hated the vet so much he needed the full knock out job before as they happy stuff didn't work We think Sarge should be awarded a medal for bravery and putting up the greatest fight ever when it comes to the blood stealers. Boy he is a one. Play bows to him.
Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly

Oh boy, Sarge... I'm evil at the vet too and he always removes his glasses when I walk in, but at the end, the vet, the vet tech, mom and dad can handle me. Mom's classmate is a vet and she said once, that some anipals are very sensitive and they can smell and feel the sad things what happen sometimes at the vet. And she said that those sensitive furriends can't handle that and therefore they fight for their life. maybe you are such a sensitive dog?

Wow, we're impressed. We'll have to go back a post to figure out why Sarge was in there in the first place. Pooping, peeing is just to throw you off track. Vet offices are used to it. As long as Sarge is fine. Nothing twisted, out of alignment or any harm has come to Sarge, then we're totally fine. Like they said, we don't care who dies in the movie as long as the dog is fine and lives.

You the Top Dog Sarge! Way to go buddy. That was some ordeal fur sure. We're glad that your Dad could laugh about it afterwards. We would have been crying here.

Glad to hear that all is OK and you're good to go for another year.

Wow Sarge, we're kinda shocked! Do you need to visit Dr. Freud about this? When me and Stanley go to the dogtur they go on and on about how well behaved we are and keep giving us pets and treats. One time the dogtur said she was going to have to quarantine us just so she could play more with us! We are glad your routines are over for this year. But most of all we are glad everyone survived your routines!

Your Pals,

First of all, and we know we're not dogters, we think all that wrestling showed that Sarge was a 100% healthy dog and probably didn't need to be there. Just sayin'.

Bet the Vet's just as happy that Sarge doesn't have to come back for awhile.

Wooooooooooooohooooooooo Sarge, never never let them get you!! Mommy loves this story, cause I seem to be immune to sleepy pills too. The Vetlady gave me(14 pounds) a 5mg Valium and it made me crazier. Sarge, you and I would never fold under interrogation. Rest now my pal.

Poor Sarge, that is terrible. We hope you are feeling better soon and can someday learn to go to the vet without needing to be knocked out.

We've heard red heads don't take to knock out drugs like everyone else. They have a high pain tolerance and need double doses! I hope everyone has recovered. :-)
