Crabby Monday...Beachnut News

Hello Blogville!  Toodle-ooo to Turkle!
It's me, Beachnut here to say hello to all of my friends.  Oh My Clawd it seems like forever since we got to do a Crabby Monday post.  Between the Olympics, which were a great time, and then the loss of our internet, I have had to wait forever to tell you my news!  OMC, I'm so excited to tell this.

Drumroll please, Sarge!
I molted!   Yes, I did!    Several weeks back, even before the Olympics, Shelldon molted and played that rotten joke on The Hands.  They thought it was her dead little body, when she just molted and left her exoskeleton for them to find.  Tee hee hee it was kinda funny!  Well, they know better now and I wouldn't tease The Hands like that.  I molted very nice and cleanly and left it for them to see.  I'm all new and shiny and bright now!  And bigger too.  One of my leggies was missing the very pointed tip and now it's back nice like it's supposed to be.  See, when we molt, we replace missing legs, parts of legs, and sometimes even eyes!  Aren't we amazing little crabby girls?!?

Here are the pictures of my molting adventure:

I'm sitting here in my round shell and my exo is laying in the corner.

Here I am right up with my exo.  See, we eat this after we molt.  Lots of you are saying YUCK right now!  LOL    Only our front parts are hard...our two pinchers and two front legs.  The rest of our bodies are soft and back inside our shell.  While we keep growing, our exo doesn't.  When it gets too tight, we shed it like a snake does.  Then we eat the exo so we get our calcium and minerals back into our systems.  So, I stayed here for a few days working on this until it was all gone.

So, there's my big announcement!
Well, hang on because I have a SECOND announcement!
Not only did I molt...I changed shells!    First time since living here with Shelldon and The Hands.
Check out these pictures...

That's Shelldon on our log in her light colored, newer (she changed shells several weeks ago) shell-- and that's me in the bottom right corner.  Here, I'm still in my round, dark shell.

Tah Dah!   Here I am today, in my newer, lighter shell!  See me in the right corner in front of my log?!?  Yup, that's me in my new house.   This is all very exciting for me!

First, Shelldon molted and she's changed shells a bunch.  Now, I've caught up with her since I've molted and now changed shells too.  For being such little crabby girls, we sure do have busy lives!  Teeheehee.

I think next week, Shelldon and I will tell all of you, our good friends, a little bit more about life as a Hermit Crab.

OMC!  I almost forgot....don't miss out on Sarge's Decorate Your Backpack Booth for the big Back To School Bash!   Check out his last two posts for information.  Pick a color for your backpack, tell him what you want on it, list your email addy all in a comment and he'll set you up.  So far, there are 21 one backpacks all designed for the big day on the 12th.

Little Pinches,
Beachnut (and Shelldon)

I bet the hands had a little rush of the old adrenaline when they saw your empty shell. You are a couple of amazing critters.

Woof! Kate likes th new shells and Skin! Woof! She hs a friend with a hermit crab! Woof! Her friend used to have two hermit crabs, but her cat killed the other one! Woof! They had to give the current one a man made reinforced blue shell, so it could survive. Woof! Echo

How exciting! I no knows the detailed inner workings of crabses, so I is going to enjoy learning more about them. Does you think I can get a new doghouse if I molt too?

Love,
Reuben
