Hey Everyone!

And, don't miss out on Sidebite's Race Day event! OMD it will be so fun. Check out his blog for the list of racers and comment your guess for the winner. There is a pawesome prize to win!!
Okay, so the Winged part!
Probably most of you know my territory is sorta out in the woods. Well, there are lots of critters. I have porcupines, black bears, bobcats, coyotes, and the usual assortment of raccoons, skunks, chipmunks, and 'possums.
There are also lots of birdies! Mamaw gave us a wonderful new hummingbird feeder. Check this new feeder out:
It's really cool because my Mom can clean it easily since it has a big opening. It should keep out ants and bees too because the birdie opening is a set of small slits. The hummingbirds love it! If you're looking for one, it came from Walmart.
Well, we also have Baltimore orioles! They are so very pretty. For them, we have this cool jelly feeder. They love grape jelly. Here's a male having a snack now. If you're looking for one, it came from Miles Kimball.
WELL, IMAGINE OUR SHOCK when the orioles started using the hummingbird feeder! They've tried it with other feeders, but they couldn't balance on the tiny perches. This feeder has a solid ring for a perch and the orioles can use it. As you can see, it's empty! BOL
Here's the male oriole on the hummingbird feeder and a female oriole on the chain for the jelly feeder. What a pretty pair of birdies!
Remember this:
Well, Dad had to move his truck, so he carefully put the nest in our lilac bush, but these robins had other ideas. If they couldn't use Dad's truck tire, then they'd use this:
Our front motion-detector lights! BWAR HAR HAR they built this new nest in two days. WOW. It doesn't seem to bother the light and the light doesn't seem to bother them.
So, there's a peek at our birdies. Cool huh?!?
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, BirdBrain
Your birds are beautiful Sarge! We too love hummers and orioles and have the same jelly feeder as you do (at our NY house.) We hope that when we get back to NY the birds will remember who we are and come for a visit.

Lily Belle & Muffin
Love the birdies new nest by the lights. Bonus -- if a stranger bird tries to fly too close to the new nest at night -- the lights will go off and scare the stranger bird away.
ReplyDeleteWe think those Robins might be a bit dumb.
ReplyDeleteBut we love the orioles having a Hummer snack. Great feeders. That jelly jar just fits right in?
XXXOOO Bella & Roxy
Sarge you are so lucky to have such lovely looking wildlife. We think Mr and Mrs Robin better find somewhere more convenient for your peeps LOL. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Neat-O Wish we had hummers in Florida butt I don't think they like the heat! We never see any. :(
ReplyDeleteWonder when there'll be eggs in that new next. The babies will have to wear sunglasses by that light (and every time they move, the light will come on...HeHeHeHe)
WE just love the Oriole on the HUMMER feeder. That is sooooo funny.
ReplyDeleteThe Jelly Feeder is the strangest feeder we have EVER seen. We had Never Heard of one until we saw YOURS.

ReplyDeleteSarge, you have some very cool birdies. I've never seen a hummingbird or a Baltimore oriole. I think it is neat that you have them nesting by you too...you will be able to see the baby birds when they hatch!
ReplyDeleteOz
the light will probably help to keep the nest warm too......those orioles are so pretty
ReplyDeleteNeat bird feeders Sarge. We have a pond in our big yard and the birds love to come and hang out there. we have a pair of doves that have been coming each spring for a few years now.

Nice feeders and beautiful Orioles. Hope the hummers come along too.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't realize that nest in the tire well was in your Dad's truck - how cool was that! We suspect now that the motion detector light must come on quite a bit with the mom coming back and forth tons of times:)
