She Went Without Me

Hey Everyone!
Wow, I got left out of a really pawesome trip!  Boooooooo.
MOOOOOM!
How could you?!?

So, here's the story...Mom works for the State of Pennsylvania.  She helps State employees retire, so she sometimes goes all around my territory to see people in all different agencies and all kinds of jobs.  Lucky her, the other day she got to go see the people that work for the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Bird Farm!

She coulda taken me...
BUT NNNNOOOOOOOO!

Anyway, she went on this trip, and all I got were these lousy pix.

They raise pheasants to be released into the wild.
Those are nesting boxes for the females to lay their eggs in.

Look at all those eggs!  Those are some busy Moms.  BOL

Then those eggs all go into incubator machines to keep them in just the right temperature and humidity.

Here's a sample egg in the rack inside the incubator.  They stay about 21 days...then they hatch!

Then in about 2 months, the little chicks are all grown up and look like this adult male.
This farm hopes to have 19,000 pheasant chicks this Spring!
Wow!  That's a flockin' lot of birdies if you ask me!  BOL

Actually, it's a good thing she left me at home...they'd probably have a few unfortunate accidents because you know I'd have to bash a few of them.  Something tells me Mom was totally aware of this!  BWAR HAR HAR.

Grr and an Abandoned Woof,
Sarge, COP

  2. What an exciting job your mummy has. It's a shame you didn't get to go and see the birdies. Maybe you could have just sat quietly and watched ;) xx

  10. Cool pics! Sarge, I am sure you would have had a blast had you been allowed to go on this trip. But sometimes our idea of fun is not our human's idea of fun. Sorry you had to suffer my friend!

  11. I think its best you stayed home to prevent any unfortunate incidents. I mean, the head lines would have been horrible...and your Mom...well anyway you know what I mean. The birds are beautiful though, we have some kind of like that around here and they make pawful noises and wake me up, now those you could come and bash ;),

  21. That would have been really cool to see in person!

Sorry you got left behind, Sarge, but I think it was probably for the best in this instance.

I kind of think Chico would have barked at the birdies and Shiver would try to play with the eggs, thinking they were balls.
