Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Everyone.
Well, this is it.
Here's my Entry for Peeps on Parade.
My dad was a law enforcement officer for 33 years! His human name is Stan. He's my inspiration as Blogville Chief of Police. He taught me everything I know. When he finished his career he was a Sergeant in the Sheriff's Department for my county! That's how I got my name! It's like calling me Junior. He's Big Sarge and I'm Little Sarge. Now, Dad is retired. He had to retire so he would have all day, every day for me.
Dad's biggest hobby/talent is hunting and fishing. He loves camping too. Especially if I go along!! He likes to hunt deer, turkey, bear, and mushrooms! YUMMY He's a great fisherman too.
Our favorite thing to do together is SWIM. We both love the water and he is pawesome to go swimmie with. He throws my water stick for me and we swim like fish!!
Something serious and special about Dad is that he once saved the life of a nine year old girl who got hurt on a playground. The dogtor said without him, she would have died.
Something funny and special about my dad is that he is an honest-to-goodness Cradle Robber! Pretty funny for a career law man! Yup, he stole Mom right from her cradle...well that's a slight exaggeration, but he is...are you ready for this...brace yourselves...are you sitting down...24 years older than her! BOL BWAR HAR HAR They have a lot of laughs about this! Another fascinating fact about Dad is that he breaks things. That's right, he breaks lots of things. Mostly tools...especially anything with a handle. Then he keeps them!! Our basement is full of shovel heads, rake handles, hoe pieces, etc.
So, there you go. That's my beloved DAD. He's the greatest peep ever!
Next up: Mom
My mom used to work in transporation doing things like dispatching trucks and being a safety manager. Her human name is Lori. She also worked in human resources, which I don't really pretend to understand. Now she works for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. My territory. She is a retirement counselor which means she helps people stop working so they have more time to devote to their pets! We can all appreciate that idea!! BOL
Her favorite hobby is reading, but she also loves to swim, camp and fish. She can play the flute, though she really hasn't done that too much since college. It hurts my ears something fierce, so I'm glad she sorta stopped! BOL BWAR HAR HAR
Our favorite thing to do together is walk. She likes to walk and I LOVE to walk...it's a twofer! She likes to walk really fast which is totally cool to me.
Something serious and special about Mom is that when she was really young, she was sort-of an apprentice to a veterinarian. She started in the 5th grade and spent many Saturdays and Summer days in the office and out in the field with a dogtor. She once saw him do mouth-to-mouth and save a baby lamb that was born not breathing.
Something funny and special about Mom is that she can whistle an olive. Yes, you read that right! She can take one of those big, black olives, put it up to her lips, blow, and make an actual whistle. I don't have the foggiest idea how she discovered this...or why. BOL It is kinda entertaining! She's also a closet Star Trek fan. Teeheeeheeee. Don't laugh. Some of your Peeps probably are too!
Anyway. There you go. The skinny on my Peeps. And to top it off, here are the pix:
Just kidding!
(Thanks Gary Larson.)
I hope you enjoyed this peek at my peeps. I can't wait to read all of your posts!
Thanks for playing along with my big event.
BTW: DON'T FORGET PIP'S BIG SUPERHERO PARTY ON THE 30th!
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
That was very interesting and chock full of facts about your peeps. Send your momma here because I wicked totally want my peeps to retire and they say they will never ever be able to. What the heck? I like the mom with a minnow photo the best.
ReplyDeleteAs for the age difference... hmmm... 24 years is a loooong time when you are maybe like 10 years old and 34 years old, but I think as the humans get older those differences are not so important.
Slobbers,
Mango
Oh Sarge, I loved reading about your peeps! I will be posting mine tomorrow. Gosh, I can certainly see that you are a chip off the old block - just like your dad. I know you would save a little girl, too, if given the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has had lots of different jobs, too. Both of your parents are heroes - your dad saving the little girl and your mom saving the lamb! Wow! I like to eat black olives, does this count?
Love the pictures!
Your pal, Pip
VERY well pawed Sarge!! And guess what.. Ronnii and Uji's Dad was a KLINGON!! MY mom was all Squeeeeeee over that... beclaws you know that both of our moms LOVE STAR TREK!!!
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! very nice to meet n know your peeps. Fishing is a great way to do when retired ... my mom would love to do that too. Happy Friday! Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteLove your peeps story! I just posted one about my peeps too - what a great idea for a parade!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say hi. No post from this household cuz the mom is too tight to spill. She thinks her secrets are not exciting. Her life revolves around providing meals for the 4 legged household members and scooping...well, you know what comes after you eat.
ReplyDeleteShe promises to read all the posts and maybe learn to be more interesting.
Yep, I agree with Pip, you're a chip off the old block. I enjoyed knowing more about your peeps & I have my post up now!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting such a great event!
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar

Awww, you have two great peeps, Sarge. We send our thanks to your Dad for his outstanding service. His job is not an easy one, and we are sure he had many scary experiences. We think him for helping to keep our world safe. Our Mom likes to walk too, but we think she just keeps getting slower and slower.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend - we hear some pup may be coming to visit.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Thank you for telling us about your hoomies! They sure are great people. Me say, who cares if your dad is 24 years older than your mom. The most important thing is that they love & care for each other. My hoomie Melissa has been interested in a 43 year old man for a very long time & she knows he's interested in her too. Melissa is only 20. He lives very far away thought but I'm sure they'll be able to meet each other some day.
ReplyDeleteHey Sarge
